- Ford Mustang was completely redesigned in 1994 and marked the fourth major redesign of the pony car. The original design was styled by Patrick Schiavone and the famous pony on the grille was returned after a 16-year absence. Buyers had options to choose between 3 engines for the first production year of the new generation Mustang. The base model was equipped with 232 ci (3.8 L) V6 OHV engine also available was 302 ci (5.0 L), which was replaced in 1996 with 4.6-liter overhead-cam V8 engine. All Mustang models were equipped with all-disk brakes with optional antilocking. Ford sold a total of 123,198 copes and convertibles Mustangs of the new generation.
