- Scout was developed for very short period of time and introduced in 1961. International needed a smaller engine than ones they were using for the trucks. So they took one 300 ci (5-litre) V8 lorry engine and cut the left-hand block of engine and they got new engine inclined at 45° to right . Scout got some options that no other vehicle was offering like removable top, doors and side windows.
